It’s a Numbers Game!

“The Lord God took Abram outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars, if you can. Just so,” he added, “shall your descendants be.” (Genesis 15:5)

In my understanding of God’s call, I would equate “descendants” with “disciples.” When God called Abraham, he called him to be the Father of the Faith, promising that his people would number as many as the stars in the Sky. When Christ called us to be his Disciples, he asked us to make disciples of all nations, indicating that we are to have MANY that will follow!

It is COVENANT, and it is a numbers game! It is about sharing the Good News with as many as possible, so that they might do the same. God’s promise becomes our promise. God’s commitment becomes our dedication. God’s love becomes our collective joy!
