Harden Not Your Hearts... A Week of Reflections (1/29/24 the 2/2/24)

Good Morning World... Harden not your hearts!

Sunday: Today is a new opportunity to let go of that which has prevented us from being the person we were called to be! Listen to the Word and the voice of the Lord and be free of the anxieties that would get in the way, for "the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light; on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death, light has arisen." (Matthew 4:16)

Monday: I receive a daily text called “30 Seconds with Jesus”… Here’s today’s 30 Seconds (Thanks Abe): “God has created us with great freedom. We are free to do and to choose as we please. When we choose to serve and follow God, we obtain freedom, for if not, we become slaves to sin. Jesus is our freedom. He came to set us free from our sin. Strive for freedom in Jesus. Follow Him.” "For freedom Christ set us free; so stand firm and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery." Galatians 5:1

Tuesday: “Keep my life, for I am devoted to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God.” (Ps. 86:2) Just like yesterday and tomorrow, today is the day to be reassured that God is always with you. With that in mind, also know that every now and then you might feel a nudge or shove from the Lord in the direction that you might not have the courage to go on your own… This is a hard and necessary truth and part of what saved this here Hipster!

Wednesday: “Brothers and sisters: Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice! Your kindness should be known to all. The Lord is near.” (Philippians 4: 4-5) We definitely enjoy rejoicing, but it’s the kindness that we show that keeps the Lord near. When you let God’s love shine through you in all that you do, the world around you is reassured that they are not alone!

Thursday: (Morning Prayer) "Lord Jesus, early in the morning of your resurrection, you made your love known and brought the first light of dawn to those who dwell in darkness. Your death has opened a path for us. Do not enter into judgment with your servants; let your Holy Spirit guide us together into the land of justice." May we be open to following the path to justice and true love in our midst. I know it sounds too easy, but if you’re in darkness and you can’t see that light, start by opening your eyes… Then take a deep breath, take a risk, and make the first step! And don’t forget to notice that the Spirit is set to guide US, meaning that you’re simply stepping onto a path where you’ll never be alone.

Friday: “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.” (Luke 2: 29-32) Today the Lord is being presented to you. How long have you waited? Take God into your life and see the light that will dispel the darkness. “You are my God, ever faithful to your Word…For my eyes have seen and my hands have held the God of Israel.” (Simeon’s Song by Steve Angrisano)

Saturday: “My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord; I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27) If you’ve been following the message and my train of thought this week, it is simply about following God’s call. If you’ve heard that call, even in the faintest of whispers, please know that it is YOU that the Lord has chosen… YOU, and all of your successes and failures; all that you have been, and are, and ever will be. YOU, and all your missed opportunities and limitations; all the things you’ve never done, cannot do, and might never do.  God loves YOU, and is leading the way through a life that was, is, and ever shall be amazing and incredibly challenging. Just BE, FOLLOW and LIVE, and God’s love will grow in and through YOU! (Read more about the call of a King simply seeking an “understanding heart” in 1 Kings 3: 4-13)
