Wow, six seconds!
The key to this new "advancement" seems to be the creative utilization of the "video loop" . Already, there's been controversy with regards to inappropriate conduct and content during these six second loops, but like anything else, the bad apples will come and go. But will The Vine really be able to add to the level coverage that we're already swamped with in the social network? We'll see.
I can't let this GregBlog go without at least one Scripture reference. Here's an obvious one:
I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)
The Gospel of John is very focused on making sure that we see ourselves as connected to God, through Christ, and hence one another. He is the source, and we are His hands and feet, and mouths and fingers, and video loops to do good things for one another! The great sports radio talk show host, Jim Rome, refers to his show as The Jungle, and his callers as using the vine to call in and, as he puts it, "have a take and not suck!"
This new Vine, that will supposedly enhance the continuing discussion on Twitter, challenges us twitterers to do the same. Venture cautiously out on this new Vine, and stay focused on using this mobile device as a tool for spreading God's love! Good luck!
