The Evolution of The Voice: The GregCast Goes to Canada

This GregBlog Series offers a glimpse into my preparation for my trip to Canada, where I'll be serving the Dioceses of Prince Albert and Saskatoon. Coming from Alabama, I'll be bringing more than a banjo on my knee! Here are some latest thoughts and directions for The GregCast Live in Canada, coming October 10-13, 2012.

Feedback and input is welcomed... Part of the value in opening up this process is to also open up to the Will of the Holy Spirit, that voice within us all! PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS, AND IDEAS! Meanwhile, here are mine:

An initial thought about "The Voice"...

It is Morality (the voice within)
It is a call to discipleship (a voice from 'above')
It is a challenge to serve (the voice of 'your neighbor')
With respect to a Scripture, Pope Benedict XVI wrote (in his book Jesus of Nazareth) "The disciples is bound in the mystery of Christ. His life is immersed in communion with Christ!" He offers that with respect to the Scripture, "It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me." Galatians 2:20.
I'm speaking to various groups in Prince Albert on October 10-12, and the Diocesan Rally in Saskatoon on the 13th... October 14th is Vocation Awareness Sunday in the Canadian Church. I think there needs to be a link here... Duh!
Looks like I'll be visiting JPII Collegiate H.S. in North Battleford and possibly doing a Grade 11 Retreat. The working topics are “The Body of Christ” and “Morality", adding to the school's theme of “Sharing our Treasures”, focusing on “caring for those around us.” They are using the Kid Rock song as their theme – “Care.”

How's this for a topic, or talking point? "Laughing in the Face of God!": Are we guilty of making the Good News a tad too serious, or over complicated? "The Year of Faith", begins on October 11th, and calls us to explore our own personal journeys of faith, both as Church, and as individuals... My random thought explores the perspective that faith must involve a sense of humor! Let's call it the ultimate "Divine Comedy"... If part of being human includes having a sense of humor; and if Jesus was fully divine and fully human; does that not give Jesus a fully developed sense of humor? And as Christians, called to be Christ for one another, are we not called to have the same fully developed sense of humor? (Read this Blog by Fr. James Martin, S.J. http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2012/01/25/my-take-reclaiming-jesus-sense-of-humor/ )
