This GregBlog is part of a series called "50 Ways to Get Through Easter". Originally posted in 2010, it follows the reading in Cycle C of the Church Lectionary, the same cycle we're on for this year... Pretty cool eh? In the wisdom of the cycle, old becomes new again! Kinda "Easter-ish" isn't it? Enjoy!
“O LORD, our Lord, how glorious is your name over all the earth! What is man that you should be mindful of him, or the son of man that you should care for him? You have made him little less than the angels, and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him rule over the works of your hands, putting all things under his feet. All sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field, The birds of the air, the fishes of the sea, and whatever swims the paths of the seas.” (Psalm 8: 2ab, 5-9)
Today’s word: Being!
How are you at the art of “being”? Are you successful at it, or do you struggle with it? Do you even know what I am talking about? One thing I know for sure is, and bear with the philosophy for a second, YOU ARE! You exist, and you are the person you have come to be! But, as Mufasa says to Simba from the clouds in the sky in the famed animated film The Lion King, “You are more than what you have become!”
The art of being allows us to take our place in God’s plan, which by the way places us in the pecking order, “a little less than the angels”, which is pretty darn good! So JUST BE my friends, and don’t try too hard to be anything except yourself! God said “I AM”, and Christ said the same... Now, as a child of God, “YOU ARE”, so live your life and have fun just BEING!
