“Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is made to you and to your children and to all those far off, whomever the Lord our God will call.” He testified with many other arguments, and was exhorting them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day.” (Acts 2: 38-41)
Today’s word: Animation!
The faith in a risen Lord seems to capture attention. Stop on the street today, and as loud as you can, pray the “Glory Be”. I mean it, just stop in the middle of a side walk, or in the mall’s food court and belt it out: “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end... AMEN!” By the time you say “Amen”, and open your eyes, many folks will most certainly be staring at you! While this is extreme, and not really a new thought of mine (I seem to say stuff like this a lot), ANIMATING one’s faith, just like an artist takes a single picture, and breaths life into a frame by frame cartoon, takes time and attention to detail. Each frame of our life, leads to the next, and so on. When we breath life into our faith, through the action of service or compassion or a simple prayer, we make the mystery of the Risen and now unseen Lord, a reality for many on-lookers. We take those pictures of Jesus, that we see all of the time, and we animate them into a life of Christ... Living frame by frame!
