My faith loves feast days; that is days that celebrate important elements or milestones in our faith journey. Today, and every July 1st is The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus! Sounds important eh?
While it's a very important element of our faith, the Sacred Heart of Christ only points to the heart in us all, and the challenge to allow that heart to celebrate, be moved or even broken by the things that would touch the heart of Jesus. This morning's prayer offered me a line that summed up the reality of a faith that moves hearts within so as to move hearts of others... "Give me your heart, and note carefully the way I point out to you!" cf. Jeremiah 31:33 (Book of Christian Prayer, Morning Prayer July 1, 2011)
Today I simply thank God for the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the many, many loving hearts that continue to care for those who need God's love. My friends, that means YOU. Thanks! TGIF!

The 25th Anniversary of My 21st Birthday!
Thanks to all for the Birthday wishes!
“Brothers and sisters: The love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.” (Romans 5: 5)
What a great day a birthday is... Friends, wishes, and gifts!
I am reminded today that it is also the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the annual Feast of St. Barnabas. Our true gift in this life is the gift of Christ and his Most Sacred Heart, for it allows all of us to open our own hearts to the power of what the Spirit has in store for all of us! St. Barnabas, also known as the “Son of Encouragement”, was the side kick for the Apostle Paul. Together, they took the Gospel to places no one else would, encouraging all to accept the fact that God really loved them, and that they were more qualified than they thought to receive that love and do great things!
So on this, the 25th Anniversary of my 21st Birthday (46), let me say that I too want a heart that is open to the Spirit, and I too want to continue my journey encouraging as many folks as possible to accept the love offered to them by God!
Happy Birthday to me, but as for you... God bless you, your amazing heart, your powerful spirit, and the way you continue to encourage others, like me, to keep on, keepin’ on!
Peace!
