I've removed the face of the Prophet to respect the Muslim tradition of not depicting his likeness. |
"Je Suis Charlie" - I am Charlie!
I am keenly aware of the tragedy and the brutality that the people of France have had to endure, and I am also aware of the satirical purpose and sometimes offensive content of this French Newspaper (Charlie Hebdo - Journal Irresponsable). So I am not naive, or gullible in my prayerful support for peace, freedom, and true reconciliation!
My friends, God is here and present in all of this. You saw it in Sunday's Paris March and others around the globe! You see it in the reawakened prioritization for a free press! And now you see it in this... The latest cover of Charlie Hebdo, which reads "Tout Est Pardonne" (All is Forgiven), depicting the Prophet with a tear running down his face holding the now infamous sign "Je Suis Charlie" (I am Charlie). It's of course controversial, but it is also bold, peaceful, and celebrates the love of God!
I know its one of my GregCast stretches, but I had a thought the other day that if you move a letter and a space "Je Suis Charlie" reads "Jesu is Charlie". So on one satirical magazine cover (with questionable morals from time to time), I see a great Prophet, standing with our Lord Jesus Christ, teaching us about the Truth of forgiveness, all in the name of the ONE GOD, Abba Father! We are called to listen, learn and improve our world... So, let us join together and continue to pray for the Good News, for life, forgiveness, tolerance, decorum, respect, and responsible communication in the action and the reaction of the no doubt many debates ahead.
We are God's people, and we are all loved... Period!
