Clouds

A GregBlog Note: Zach Sobiech, 17-year-old teen from Stillwater, Minn., doesn’t go far without his guitar in tow.  Facing months to live, Zach is turning to music - writing and performing songs as a way to say goodbye to his friends and family.  Zach has been battling osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer, since he was diagnosed at age 14. As the disease spreads, doctors have no more effective treatment options to offer him a cure. Zach is told that he likely has months to one year to live.  In the face of this earthshattering news, his response is to embrace every day with hope and joy. Zach surrounds himself with family and friends. He still goes to his senior year classes, although he told his teachers that he will skip the homework.  And, he writes songs for the ones he loves. Writing goodbye letters aren’t Zach’s style, so he puts his heart into song lyrics. His song “Clouds” and the accompanying music video on YouTube have garnered worldwide attention after his story appeared on CNN and in newspapers, television and websites around the globe. His YouTube video topped 2 million views and continues to climb. Zach’s music has touched the hearts of anyone who listens, and we can’t wait to hear more from Zach as he continues to write and compose new songs. (ChildrensCancer.org/Zach)

While its purpose is to convey a young man's faith and  courage in the face of death, his song "Clouds" certainly conjures up the reassurance that Christ himself spoke to us all as He was lifted "up, up up"! Enjoy!!!

Clouds by Zach Sobiech
Perfect for "The Ascension"!

Well I fell down, down, down
Into this dark and lonely hole
There was no one there to care about me anymore
And I needed a way to climb and grab a hold of the edge
You were sitting there holding a rope.

And we'll go up, up, up
But I'll fly a little higher
We'll go up in the clouds because the view is a little nicer
Up here my dear
It won't be long now, it won't be long now.

When I get back on land
Well I'll never get my chance
Be ready to live and it'll be ripped right out of my hands
Maybe someday we'll take a little ride

We'll go up, up, up and everything will be just fine.
And we'll go up, up, up
But I'll fly a little higher
We'll go up in the clouds because the view is a little nicer
Up here my dear.
It won't be long now, it won't be long now

If only I had a little bit more time
If only I had a little bit more time with you.

We could go up, up, up
And take that little ride
And sit there holding hands
And everything would be just right
And maybe someday I'll see you again
We'll float up in the clouds and we'll never see the end.

And we'll go up, up, up
But I'll fly a little higher
We'll go up in the clouds because the view is a little nicer
Up here my dear
It won't be long now, it won't be long now.
