Today's Readings
"The main point of what has been said is this: we have such a high priest, who has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle that the Lord, not man, set up." Hebrews 8: 1-2
In Scripture, it's always helpful when the writer, and therefore the Lord, get straight to the point. This is also beneficial for "armchair theologian wannabes" like me. Even more, today's main point spares you, the GregBlog Reader, the long drawn out "spiritual guessing game" that comes with wondering what God wants us all to know.
So, based on Hebrews, the main point is simple: Christ is the highest of all the high priests, in the line of Melkizedek, the archetype of all priests, whose main purpose is to be "minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle that the Lord, not man, set up"; that is THE CHURCH, or the people of God, like you and me, needing a little nourishment now and then. We're all trying to understand it all, and we do so by taking "sanctuary" in the Lord. So, stay close to Christ and you're close to God and the blessing and healing he has to offer!
Oh by the way. Before we leave the book of Hebrews, I just had to make the joke:
Q: Do you know how we know that God is a coffee lover?
A: It's in Scripture... HE-BREWS!
LOL... A truly lame way to say, go ahead and have another cup!
