On this day, fifty years ago, the Second Vatican Council convened in Rome. The Church truly came together as never before, and initiated what would be a "wind of change" that would call us all to a more open understanding of what it truly means to be a disciple for Jesus Christ!
On this day, twenty years ago, Pope John Paul II released The Catechism of the Catholic Church, the most important work of his quarter century pontificate. This collection of The Teachings of the Church will forever guide the faithful, providing the wisdom and direction needed by a "people who walk in darkness"!
On this day, Pope Benedict XVI offers us all The Year of Faith. This is an opportunity for personal and collective reflection on the Catholic Faith, a challenge for us to welcome home those who have left that faith, and the call for all the Church to reaffirm itself as teachers and disciples of the Good News!
It's a big day indeed, so let's get to work!
